John Alec Entwistle was born to Herbert and Maud Entwistle on Oct 9, 1944 in Chiswick England. While growing up as a child John took up the trumpet, flugelhorn , and the piano as well as the bass guitar.
Around 1959 John Entwistle, Pete Townshend and Phil Rhodes started a band called "The Confederates", which will eventually evolve into "The Who".
Even though Entwistle was not the main songwriter for "The Who", John had his share of song writing such notable songs, as "Whiskey Man", "Boris The Spider", "My Wife" and "Trick Of The Light" just to mention a few.
As bassist for "The Who", you can hear his expert bass playing in such songs as "My Generation" and cover versions of "Shaken All Over", "Young Man Blues" and my favorite WHO classic " The Real Me".
John also compiled the "Odds And Sods " album in 1974 and taken role as music director on "The Who" soundtracks "Quadrophenia" and "The Kids Are Alright".
John was the first group member to achieve solo success with "Smash Your Head Against The Wall" in the 70's,and had toured with his band "The Ox" (also one of his nicknames) "Rigor Mortis" and the "John Entwistle Band" and also toured with Ringo Starr and Roger Daltrey.
John had one of the finest bass and guitar collection in the U.K., and as an artist he did the cover of "Who By Numbers" and some of his Solo albums.
June 27, 2002: John Entwistle, passed away he was 57.
